Records, turntables, and Rubik’s cubes decorated the underground dance party honoring remix king, DJ Tedsmooth. The celebration had the classic 45 records all throughout the venue, including a silhouette of the young disc jockey with an Afro of vinyls and several chandeliers made of the black discs cascading from the ceilings.
In true EH Social Events fashion, the design of the event was cohesive throughout the venue of The Bowery Electric, a cool downtown spot with a hipster vibe but old school style. The customized throw pillows placed on the couches had Tedsmooth’s one of a kind event logo using his iconic baby faced trademark.
From invitations to buttons, t-shirts and cake, the event brand designed by Del Toro Designs, was carried throughout giving guests a truly unique experience.
To celebrate the man of the hour, artist, Pesu, created a portrait of Mr. Smooth with a gold crown, reminiscent of the Notorious B.I.G.’s now infamous picture. The painter was prominently positioned next to the DJ booth all night long while everyone watched him complete his creation.
The hit of the night was the Ted Smooth lamp! The lamps featured a shade with a collage of photographs from Ted’s childhood. The lamps went over vases that were filled with Rubik’s cubes, neon-lit necklaces and finished off with a slinky.
The 80’s themed lamps were almost taken away by guests when the DJ himself put it on his turn tables to secure them!
The whole night featured nothing but the best of classic hip-hop hits. Like the legendary Tupac stated, “Life is a wheel of fortune and it’s my turn to spin.” Happy Birthday Ted!
